February & March 2008

We’ve participated in so many exciting activities the past two months!

In February, we had fun preparing for our ice fishing field trip in Winona. We made our own popcan fishing poles for the event.

We also visited with a local wildlife artist to learn about developing our artist talents through observing nature.

We also learned about bald eagles, and although we were not able to take a trip to look for bald eagles, we did have fun building our own eagle nest in the forest!

In March, we traveled to Whitewater State Park to help collect sap and make maple syrup. We also had fun checking out the river and seeing how it has changed since the flood last fall.

We took a spring hike at Carley State Park and discovered many neat things on our adventure, including a real live possum.

We ended the month of March with our bluebird house project. Local high school kids prepared blue bird house kits in shop class and then gave us the kits to assemble. The Project GO kids had fun working with the wood and screws and especially the power drill, to assemble the houses that will be placed in local city parks for us to enjoy throughout the year.
